CT Scanner
CT Scanning for Clearer, Faster Diagnoses
At Evanston Regional Hospital, we’re committed to providing compassionate, quality care using the latest medical technology. One of the tools we rely on is our advanced 64-slice CT scanner, which allows our medical team to view detailed images of the body quickly and painlessly. CT (computed tomography) scans—sometimes called “CAT scans”—help us diagnose a wide range of serious health conditions, including cancer, blood clots, infections, lung and liver disease, head and spine injuries, and internal bleeding.
This powerful technology gives us a clearer picture of what’s happening inside the body, helping us care for patients of all ages with greater accuracy and speed. Depending on the type of scan, you may be asked not to eat or drink beforehand, especially if a contrast dye is needed to enhance the images. Most appointments take less than an hour, and the scan itself is typically completed in just a few minutes.
Lung Screenings: Early Detection Saves Live
Too often, individuals at risk for lung cancer wait until symptoms—like a persistent cough—appear before seeking help. But early detection can make a life-saving difference. For those considered “high-risk,” such as long-term smokers, an annual low-dose CT lung screening can detect cancer in its earliest stages—when it’s most treatable.
Studies show that regular screenings can reduce lung cancer deaths by up to 20%. If you or a loved one may be at risk, we encourage you to talk to your healthcare provider about whether a lung screening is right for you.
