General Surgery
General Surgery Close to Home
There’s comfort in staying close to home—especially when it comes to your care.
We understand that surgery isn’t something most people look forward to. Our goal is to make the experience as smooth and efficient as possible, with an emphasis on outpatient procedures and minimally invasive techniques whenever appropriate. This approach may support shorter recovery times and help you return to your daily routine sooner.
When a hospital stay is needed, having care nearby can make a difference for both you and your family. At Evanston Regional Hospital, general surgeons Ian Kendrick, MD, and Jared Barton, MD provide care for a wide range of surgical needs—from routine procedures to more urgent concerns. They incorporate minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques when appropriate, which may involve smaller incisions and a different recovery experience compared to traditional surgery.
In addition to surgical procedures, they also perform endoscopic services such as colonoscopies and upper endoscopies (EGDs), supporting both preventive care and diagnostic evaluation.
General Surgery Procedures Include:
- Stomach, spleen and colon surgeries
- Bowel obstruction treatment and bowel resections
- Colonoscopies
- Upper endoscopies (EGDs)
- Appendectomy
- Gallbladder removal
- Hernia repair
- Biopsies
- Skin lesion and mole removal
- Hemorrhoid surgery
