Pre and Post-Operative Therapy

If you’re scheduled for a procedure like joint replacement, the program is designed to make your recovery as swift and seamless as possible. Following your procedure, you’ll be seen by your therapist in the comfort of your private room. Though everyone’s different, we’ll work to get you up and moving the same day as surgery, and help you achieve your goals throughout your stay. During this time, we’ll also evaluate you to determine if ongoing outpatient therapy and/or home health care is needed, and will coordinate all care.

Aquatic Therapy

The Evanston office has a pool and hot tub that we can utilize in your therapy. Warm water provides a relaxing and soothing environment for aching joints and muscles. Water creates a natural resistance that can be used for muscle strengthening. In addition, water’s buoyancy also reduces the effects of gravity on injured or aching joints and muscles, allowing some patients to complete exercises they normally couldn’t on dry land.

Dry-Needling

Dry needling is a treatment that involves a very thin needle being pushed through the skin to stimulate a trigger point within muscular tissues. Dry needling may release the tight muscle bands associated with trigger points and lead to decreased pain and improved function.

Manual Therapy

Therapists can perform a variety of manual techniques and treatments to help relieve headaches, neck and back or extremity pain. This can include manipulations, joint mobilizations, soft tissue mobilization, and massage techniques.

Occupational Therapy

Following an illness or injury, sometimes you need help to regain the ability to perform daily tasks such as bathing, grooming, meal planning and housekeeping. We work with you to improve strength, flexibility, endurance and tolerance. Along the way, your therapist will provide progress assessments and make any adjustments to maximize your success in returning to your normal routines.

Speech Therapy

The ability to communicate with your loved ones and swallow food safely is essential to maintaining a high quality of life. A speech therapist is trained to help their patients improve their ability to communicate and eat. Access to a speech therapist is available in Evanston.
